How to divide a space on my plan without adding plaster walls?
Use cases and best practices for separators
To define an area on your plan without fully enclosing it with walls, you can use a separator, available in the Walls menu.
Using a separator allows you to:
-
Create a new room without adding plaster walls on all sides.
-
Apply different coverings to adjacent areas (e.g., tiles on the kitchen side, wood flooring on the living room side).
-
Artificially split a wall to apply a wall covering or insulation to just one section. [Learn more]
- Close off a space so that it’s recognized as a room if there’s no door and a full-height opening is planned.
How to place a separator?
-
Hover your mouse near the wall where you want to attach the separator.
→ An orange guideline will appear along the wall, and a blue and green dot will guide you. -
Click and drag your separator to the desired length.
→ It works just like a regular wall: click to validate a straight section, then continue in another direction if you want to create an angle. -
Finish your outline by connecting the separator to a wall to enclose the space.
Once placed, you can click on the separator to move it, adjust it, or modify the angle if one was created.
Best practices
❌ Do not leave a gap between the separator and the wall: if the connection isn’t made, the space won’t be recognized as a room.
✅Make sure it’s properly connected: the wall turns blue, and a blue and green point appears to guide you.
❌ Do not insert the separator inside a wall: the connection might not be detected correctly.
✅ Always connect the separator flush against the wall, not inside it:
❌ Do not fully enclose a space using only separators:
✅ Instead, connect your separator to existing walls for proper recognition:
